The Wills Street Plant was originally constructed in 1939, augmented in 1956 and upgraded in the 1980’s. It is a Trickling Filter Plant, comprising:

• Manually raked screens
• Grit removal
• Primary sedimentation
• Trickling filtration
• Secondary sedimentation
• Anaerobic sludge digestion (open unheated tanks).
