This submission will help determine the prices customers in Broken Hill and surrounding communities pay for water and wastewater services from 1 July 2026. 

What is IPART reviewing? 

• IPART is responsible for setting fair and affordable prices for regulated utilities across NSW. As part of this review, IPART will consider: 

• The costs of delivering water and wastewater services in Broken Hill, Menindee, Sunset Strip, and Silverton 

• The level of government subsidy required to keep prices affordable 

• Bulk water costs, including the WaterNSW Murray River to Broken Hill pipeline 

• Community feedback and priorities 

• Essential Water’s pricing proposal outlines our planned investments, service improvements, and cost forecasts for the next five-year period.

• Make a submission 

• Attend public forums or consultation sessions
